Taekwondo Testing is Sat., March 27, 2010

Mark your calendar for Sat., March 27, 2010. Students and guests should arrive at UMACA in St. Peters at 8:30 a.m. Testing begins promptly at 9:00 a.m.

Testing for belt advancement is by invitation only. Invitations are extended to students who have achieved mastery of their current kicks and forms for their current belt level. If you have any questions about whether or not your UMACA student has qualified for testing in January, please speak to Master Chapman.

Full uniform is required for testing. Female students may wear a t-shirt under their uniform top, but it must not change the overall presentation of full uniform and must also be tucked into their uniform pants.

UMACA's New Troy Location is Now Open

UMACA is pleased to announce that their new Troy, Mo., location opened for classes on Wed., Nov. 11, 2009.

"We are thrilled with the new, updated facility," said Master Brad Chapman, owner of UMACA. "We have always offered excellent classes in Troy, and now we have a facility that truly reflects that standard."

Team UMACA Shone Bright at the Stars and Stripes Taekwondo Tournament in Kansas City Oct. 24

Liberty, MO - Six members of Team UMACA competed in the annual Stars and Stripes taekwondo tournament on Sat., Oct. 24, 2009. They came home victorious. The results are:

Fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu and Open Mat Jiu-Jitsu Classes Return to UMACA's Fall Schedule

UMACA is pleased to reintroduce regular jiu-jitsu classes into it's fall program line-up.

The Fundamentals of Jiu-Jitsu class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. As the name implies, this class focuses on the fundamentals of jiu-jitsu as taught by the Gracie family. These classes are taught by Brad Chapman, owner of UMACA and blue-belt in RGDA Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

Jiu-Jitsu Open Mat takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During Open Mat Jiu-Jitsu, jiu-jitsu practioners of all skill levels are encouraged to come "roll." Beginners and experts alike are welcome at open mat.

School Year Schedule Back in Gear for 2009/2010 School YeaR!

As the 2009/2010 school years tears out of the gates, UMACA gets back on track with standard school year hours for kickboxing - removing open gym and Monday and Wednesday daytime classes.

And back-to-school means back to friends, so don't forget to take full advantage of UMACA's Train-for-Free promotion! Ask Brad or Linda for flyers to hand out to all of the new parents and kids you get to see because you are back at school! You'll be glad you did!


UMACA Students Win Ten Medals at Taekwondo Junior Olympics in Austin, Texas

Saint Peters, MO: Nine members of the UMACA Competition Team fought their way to ten medal positions in the USA Taekwondo Junior Olympics that took place from Tues., June 30, to Sun., July 5, 2009, in Austin, TX.

“At this level of competition, the fact that every UMACA Competition Team member that participated in the Junior Olympics brought home a medal is something we are very proud of as a school,” said Master Brad Chapman, owner of UMACA. “The kids worked incredibly hard to prepare for this. It showed in their performance, and it really shined on the medal stand. I am very proud of them.”

The 2009 USAT Junior Olympics offered competitors the opportunity to compete in forms, breaking and weapons demonstrations as well as the main event – the sparring competition.

Representing UMACA and the MSTO Missouri State Team were Alexsis Sorice (14), Jorgen Angell (15), Chuong Nguyen (17) and Caitlin Baker (17). Representing the UMACA Competition Team were McKenna Chapman (10), Josephine Boynton (12), Jason West (13), Zoe Boynton (13), and Anoushka Bergmann (15).

The results were:
